SPONSORSHIP Information

SLU Sponsorship Overview

The South Lake Union (SLU) line of the Seattle Streetcar serves the Downtown Retail Core, Denny Triangle and South Lake Union neighborhoods.

There are 11 stops along the 2.6 mile loop.

The average daily ridership is 1,738 people. Since its opening day in 2009, nearly 2 million people have ridden the streetcar.

The streetcar runs daily at 15 minute intervals during operational hours.

In mid-2011, a one-year demonstration program funded by four of our sponsors (Amazon.com, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Group Health Cooperative and UW Medicine) began offering service every ten minutes on weekdays between 4-6:30 p.m. This is to encourage their employees to use the streetcar as a way to commute.

The Seattle Streetcar connects to the Seattle Monorail via McGraw Square and the Westlake Transportation Hub and runs through the middle of South Lake Union, an emerging global biotechnology center. This positions the streetcar as a strategic partner for promoting different organizations to help target daily commuters travelling between South Lake Union and the downtown area.

Sponsorship Details

Become a sponsor for the streetcar! There are different ways that you can become a sponsor. The options listed below can be combined depending on availability.

Station Sponsorship: Each stop has a glass station that your information can be added to the back glass panel along with the area above the streetcar map. Your name would be added to the hanging name plaque above the station. Your company name would also be announced on board the streetcar each time it is approaching your station.
Prices vary depending on the location of each station. A sponsorship commits to a 2-year contract. Contact us for more detailed information and station availability.

Vehicle Wraps: Currently, there are three streetcars running daily along the South Lake Union route. Two are always in service with one being maintained except during 4-6:30 commuter time.
A wrap covers the entire streetcar. The base fee is $5 K/month, 2-month minimum for one streetcar. You are able to wrap more than one streetcar at a time, schedule availability pending.

Interior Panels: Inside each streetcar there are glass panels that are available for sponsorship. There are four double sided panels located throughout the streetcar at various locations. An adhesive can be installed to both sides to create a total of eight panels available. The sponsor would have all eight panels available in a package. The base fee would be $250/month, 3-month minimum.

Bottom Line

Along with a base sponsorship fee, the sponsor is responsible for the cost of printing, installation and removal of all artwork. SDOT has city-contracted vendors that are available that you would work with directly. SDOT also has the capabilities of designing the artwork if necessary. Both parties will agree to final artwork.
Printing and installation prices are subject to change. See SLU Specs for design layout details.

Next stop - First Hill!

Beginning in 2014, the First Hill Streetcar will connect several of the city’s most culturally rich and diverse neighborhoods. This includes historic Pioneer Square, the Chinatown/International District, the Central District, First Hill and Capitol Hill. Funding for the First Hill Streetcar comes from the voter approved “ST2” measure.
The line will run from Jackson and 2nd Ave S (near King Street Station), through the International District, down Broadway ending at Denny Way. There will be approximately ten stops on this line.

We have not yet started accepting offers for First Hill sponsorships. Please check back for more information or email seattle.streetcar@seattle.gov.
